In Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, searching for key items often leads players into intricate corners of late-game areas. Among these unique quest items is the Water of the Palace, an item deeply connected to side quests and lore in the Fountainhead Palace region. Locating this hidden item allows players to unlock specific NPC interactions and claim valuable rewards.

Finding the Hidden Water of the Palace Location

To acquire the Water of the Palace, players must first reach the Flower Viewing Stage or Palace Grounds area within Fountainhead Palace. Navigating through the courtyard requires avoiding or defeating the dangerous noble enemies who drain your vigor. Inside one of the flooded grand buildings, players can find a hole in the wooden floor leading to an underwater passage.

Using the Mibu Breathing Technique, dive into the flooded section and swim through the submerged hallway. This short underwater tunnel leads into a secluded, locked room inside the manor. Inside this hidden chamber, players will discover a treasure chest holding the Water of the Palace alongside several Treasure Carp Scales.

How to Use the Water of the Palace for NPC Quests

Once the item is secured, players should travel back to Mibu Village in the Ashina Depths. Locate the house near the Wedding Cave Door where the thirsty Head Priest resides. Access the interior of the building by using the secret revolving floor panel located underneath the structure.

Offer the Water of the Palace to the Head Priest, who will gratefully consume it and reward you with Dragonspring Sake. Resting at a nearby Sculptor's Idol and returning later will progress the questline further. Upon returning, the priest transforms into a palace noble, allowing you to defeat him for extra Treasure Carp Scales.

Exploration Tips for Fountainhead Palace

Fountainhead Palace features some of the most complex layouts and vertical environments in the game. Utilizing stealth while traversing rooftops helps avoid unwanted combat against groups of Okami warriors and flute-playing nobles. Thoroughly exploring underwater passages frequently reveals secret rooms, upgrade materials, and rare chest items.
